Vedic Culture Global-Not just Indian

The report says that during a recent excavation, an idol of Lord Vishnu that belongs to VII-X century A.D. was  found in Staraya Maina village in Volga region of Russia. It also states that this village was highly populated 1700 years ago.

According to the most exalted Vedic literature, Shrimad Bhagavatam, the whole world was originally called Bharata Varsha, upto  the time of emperor Janamejaya, when the entire world was under one King’s rule. Janamejaya  was the great grand son of  Arjuna (of the Gita), grandson of Abhimanyu and son of Parikshit. Parikshit was also known by another name, Vishnurata, one protected by Vishnu. It is well known that Krishna (Vishnu) protected the child Parikshit when he was in the womb of his mother Uttara from destruction by Brahmastra of Ashwatthama.

This report is a clear pointer to the fact that worship of Lord Vishnu and Vaishnava culture were widely prevalent throughout the world during the Vedic civilization.

The Padma Purana states, “Varnashrama charavata purushena parah puman Vishnuraradhyate….”, Lord Vishnu is worshipped by a civilized person operating within the socio-religious structure of the human society . This is the essential purpose of life. Why? It is because Lord Vishnu is the partial expansion of the Supreme  Lord Krishna localized within this Universe.

Lord Krishna’s another name is Mukunda, one who gives release from the material bondage. To gain freedom from here and to return to the eternal spiritual abode of Krishnaloka should be the aim of every human being.
